Basketball Recap: Mingo Central Drops Season-High Score on Belfry

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mingo Central). They breezed past the Belfry Pirates to the tune of 75-44 on Tuesday. The Miners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 31 points or more this season.

Addie Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 10-for-18 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 34 points and ten assists. Mingo Central is undefeated when Smith posts eight or more assists, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of DaLaney Grimmett, who went 7-for-13 en route to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Mingo Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Mingo Central's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Belfry, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Mingo Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Belfry, they will face off against Phelps at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
