Buchholz faced Cardinal Newman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bobcats secured a 34-30 W over the Crusaders. Winning may never get old, but the Bobcats sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Buchholz's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justin Williams, who picked up 164 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Williams' longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Andrew Whittemore was another key passer, throwing for 241 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

When it comes to explaining why Cardinal Newman lost, don't look at Jyron Hughley. Despite the final result, he rushed for 175 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 252 yards and one TD while completing 72.7% of his passes. Hughley's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 103 rushing yards. Cardinal Newman's leading receiver Leslie Mosley was Hughley's top target yet again, picking up 205 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Buchholz's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Cardinal Newman, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3.

Buchholz and Cardinal Newman will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Bobcats see the field they'll take on Oviedo at 7:00 p.m. on the 13th. As for Cardinal Newman, their break will end when they face Benjamin at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
