Baseball Recap: Shoemaker Triumphs

Shoemaker posted their closest victory since April 12, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Palestine Wildcats 7-5.

Joephillip Guzman was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Shoemaker is undefeated when Guzman posts three or more RBI, but 2-3-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliel Rivera, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Shoemaker's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-2. As for Palestine, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3-1.

When Shoemaker and Palestine next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Shoemaker will try to stop Lorena's six-game winning streak when they meet at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Palestine will square off against Centerville and their three-game winning streak at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
