Johnstown-Monroe took a 13-run  defeat the last time they faced off against Newark Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Johnnies never let the Green Wave get on the board and left with  a   2-0  win  on Monday. For the Johnnies, this counts as revenge for the   15-2 victory the Green Wave walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in May of 2024.
Not much got past  Lucia Kuhn, who gave up just  a  hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Newark Catholic off the board. Kuhn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Addy Zak, who  went 2-for-3 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  run. That  triple was  her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Riley Stefanick, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run.
Johnstown-Monroe's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Newark Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Johnstown-Monroe will  challenge  rival Granville  at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Newark Catholic is set to  take on  their familiar foe Utica  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
