Soccer Game Preview: Prince George vs. Hopewell

The Prince George Royals will face off against the Hopewell Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Prince George is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Matoaca just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Prince George's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Hopewell hadn't done well against Thomas Dale recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Knights 2-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Hopewell's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Thomas Dale are ranked 250th).

The win made it two in a row for Hopewell and bumps their season record up to 6-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored seven goals over those two contests. As for Prince George, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2-1.
