Basketball Game Preview: York Catholic Fighting Irish vs. West York Area Bulldogs

The York Catholic Fighting Irish will venture away from home to square off against the West York Area Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

York Catholic can't be too worried about heading out to take on West York Area: they just beat Linville Hill at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. York Catholic narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Linville Hill 48-46. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Fighting Irish's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Warriors are ranked 49th).

The home team had won the previous four meetings between West York Area and York Suburban, and West York Area kept the tradition alive. West York Area managed a 64-60 win over York Suburban on Thursday.

West York Area is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points over those games. The victory made it two in a row for York Catholic and bumps their season record up to 19-6.
