Baseball Recap: Southern Wells Takes a Loss

Southern Wells came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-6 to the South Adams Starfires. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Starfires earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Southern Wells saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Yoder, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Yoder's first of the season.

Southern Wells has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for South Adams, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Wells will square off against Daleville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.4 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Adams, they will challenge Churubusco at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Starfires are on a seven-game streak of home losses, and the Eagles a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
