Baseball Recap: Cedar Springs Victorious

Cedar Springs had won three straight on the road, but on Saturday they bumped up to 4-13-2 to make it four. They won by a run and slipped past the Traverse City West Titans 10-9. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Alex Harroun looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cedar Springs is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-12-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cedar Springs' victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was James Harroun, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Harroun's first of the season. Another was Logan Marshall, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

As for Traverse City West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.

On Traverse City West's side, Ethan Hendrix was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Aris Knoll, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Coming up, Cedar Springs will be playing at home against Sparta at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.3 runs per game on average), something the Red Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Traverse City West, they are taking a road trip to take on Petoskey at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Northmen's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
