Volleyball Recap: Damien Takes a Loss

Damien was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Los Altos Conquerors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Damien took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-22.

Alex Pilarz paced Damien's offense, picking up ten kills. Pilarz got some help from Darren Chen and his 22 assists. Pilarz also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Dillon McClister, racking up three apiece.

Damien's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Los Altos, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-8.

Damien has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Rancho Cucamonga on the 8th. As for Los Altos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Sonora on the 5th.
