Basketball Recap: Alex Reyes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sylmar over Reseda

Sylmar lost against Reseda back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Sylmar Spartans lost to the Reseda Regents on the road by a 85-68 margin. The Spartans were down 64-42 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Sylmar's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Reyes, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Cymon Millhouse also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Reseda found their leader in freshman Cameron Jones, who posted 25 points. Jones' afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Donte Robinson, who put up 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Sylmar and nudges their season record down to 5-16. As for Reseda, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Sylmar will face off against Panorama at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Reseda, they and Van Nuys will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Reseda's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matches.
