Recap: Cholla Chargers vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions
After a string of five wins, the Cholla Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 79-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain View. Cholla was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mountain View apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Cholla lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jerry Mendoza, who scored 18 points along with five assists and two steals. Mendoza hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Payne, who scored 20 points.
Cholla's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Mountain View, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cholla will take on Catalina Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Catalina Foothills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 379 points over their last six games. As for Mountain View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ironwood Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ironwood Ridge has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 22.
