The Leonard Lancers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 79-53 walloping at the hands of Cardinal Newman. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Leonard in their matchups with Cardinal Newman: they've now lost four in a row.
Leonard's loss came despite strong showings from Reggie Presendieu and Emmanuel Augustin. Presendieu dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Augustin scored 15 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Presendieu has scored all season. Malachi Simpson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Leonard's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Cardinal Newman, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Leonard will head out on the road to square off against Pahokee at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cardinal Newman, Cardinal Newman and Braddock will face off at 11:30 a.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Braddock's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
