Volleyball Recap: Viroqua's Run of 13 Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of 13 wins, Viroqua's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Luther Knights. Blackhawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Knights since Tuesday.

While Viroqua had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-23.

Megan Brendel paced Viroqua's offense, picking up 11 kills. Brendel got some help from Emma Moilien and her 27 assists. Brendel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Viroqua's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Luther, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Coincidentally, Viroqua and Luther will both be playing Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau the next time they take the court. The Knights will host the Red Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Blackhawks will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
