Preview: Fayette Falcons vs. Russellville Indians
The Fayette Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Russellville Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Fayette and five for Russellville.
Fayette fell victim to Father Tolton's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the , falling 56-0. While losing is never fun, Fayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Father Tolton is ranked 109th).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Russellville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-20 loss to Crest Ridge/Chilhowee on Friday. Russellville was down 27-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Russellville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Keaton Schrimpf, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Drake Armes who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Fayette's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.0 points per game. As for Russellville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Fayette against Russellville when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 46-8 victory. Does Fayette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Russellville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
