Baseball Game Preview: Corvallis Spartans vs. Dallas Dragons

For the second straight game, Corvallis will face off against Dallas. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Corvallis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Corvallis barely beat Dallas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 11-2 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 14 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Axel Prechel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Andrew Street was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ben Weiss, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Corvallis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dallas, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
