On Tuesday, St. Mary's Academy made easy work of Cohen and carried off a 26-4 win. While fans of the Cougars might be used to big wins, the 22-run margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

St. Mary's Academy let Chloe Harris and Samia Siddiq run wild. Harris went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI, while Siddiq scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave Harris a new career-high. Nave Batiste was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: St. Mary's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Newman got the win against Benjamin Franklin on Tuesday by a conclusive 19-9.
Maryn Huber made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Felicity Drake was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddox Bazley, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Newman is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's Academy, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-4-1.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Mary's Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .736. However, it's not like Newman struggles in that department as they've averaged .573. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
