Football Game Preview: Blanchester Wildcats vs. Talawanda Brave

The Blanchester Wildcats will square off against the Talawanda Brave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Blanchester duked it out with Bethel-Tate on Friday. The Wildcats and the Tigers were almost perfectly matched up, but the Wildcats suffered a 35-34 defeat. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Talawanda hadn't done well against Mt. Healthy recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Brave were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over the Fighting Owls. The Brave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Blanchester better keep an eye on Lance Cantrell. He was instrumental in Talawanda's win, rushing for 231 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. Cantrell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Aiden Vorhees was another key player, picking up 89 receiving yards and one score.

Blanchester's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Talawanda, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
