Softball Recap: Powhatan Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Powhatan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Thomas Dale Knights with a sharp 9-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Indians have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooklyn Narbut tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Harper, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mazie Harmon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Powhatan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Powhatan has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Thomas Dale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Powhatan will welcome Midlothian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Thomas Dale, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Petersburg at 5:00 p.m.
