Basketball Recap: Moravian Prep Lions vs. John Marshall Justices

The Moravian Prep Lions are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the John Marshall Justices. Moravian Prep took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Justices. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Moravian Prep has scored all season.

John Marshall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damon Thompson Jr led the charge by scoring 23 points along with two steals. Thompson Jr is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Latrell Allmond was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Moravian Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 18-2. As for John Marshall, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.

Moravian Prep will be playing at home against the Circuit Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for John Marshall, they will head out on the road to face off against the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Glen Allen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Justices are ranked second).
