Basketball Recap: Bertrand Skates Past Gibbon with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bertrand). They blew past the Gibbon Buffaloes 54-23 on Monday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Bertrand's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brooklyn Evans led the charge by going 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points and five steals. Addison Andersen was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

Bertrand was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Gibbon lost, don't look at Brooke Sell. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 14 on her way to 15 points along with seven boards and three blocks. That's the most points Sell has posted since back in January.

The win got Bertrand back to even at 4-4. As for Gibbon, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Bertrand and Gibbon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Bertrand (ranked 164th) will meet Elm Creek (ranked 18th) at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Gibbon (ranked 258th) will meet Arcadia/Loup City (ranked 97th) at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
