Volleyball Recap: Wasilla Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Soldotna + How To Watch

Wasilla faced Soldotna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Warriors lost 3-0 to the Stars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Friday.

While Wasilla was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-18, 25-23.

Ki Schachle paced Wasilla's offense, picking up nine kills. Schachle got some help from Brystal Shelton and her 26 assists. Finally, Emelia Solsvig kept Wasilla's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Wasilla has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11-2 record this season. As for Soldotna, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-7.

Looking ahead, Wasilla will take on North Pole at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Soldotna, after both having extra time off, they and Homer will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on the 14th.
