Preview: Starmount Rams vs. Forbush Falcons
Starmount is 8-2 against Forbush since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Starmount Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Forbush Falcons at 8:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Starmount suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against South Stokes, falling 88-44. While losing is never fun, Starmount can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while South Stokes is ranked 27th).
Despite the defeat, Starmount got a solid performance out of Colton Allen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Allen is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordon Dobson, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Forbush's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 75-37 loss at the hands of Wilkes Central. Forbush was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.
Starmount's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Forbush, their loss was their 18th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-13.
Starmount was able to grind out a solid victory over Forbush in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 58-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Starmount since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
