Barron is 0-10 against Northwestern since May of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Golden Bears will head out to challenge the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Barron's victory against Ashland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Golden Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Oredockers on Tuesday. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Oredockers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kailynn Duncan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Cole, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Micahlee Skjerly was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Northwestern owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Cameron 2-0. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Northwestern's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Peterson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Northwestern hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cameron struck out 14 times.
Barron pushed their record up to 11-4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Northwestern, their record now sits at 8-2.
Barron might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Northwestern in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
