Baseball Recap: Southington Has No Trouble Against New Britain

New Britain typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Southington proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Golden Hurricanes. The win continues a trend for the Blue Knights in their matchups with the Golden Hurricanes: they've now won five in a row.

Southington got a massive performance out of Mark Zigmont, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Zigmont a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin LaRosa, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Southington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.

Southington's record is now 13-5. As for New Britain, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-8.
