Baseball Recap: 13 Straight Home Wins for Cactus Shadows

Cactus Shadows faced Mesquite in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Falcons sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Dallas Dunn looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Scully was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Evan Hanish was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Cactus Shadows kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Cactus Shadows pushed their record up to 22-2-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Mesquite, they moved to 17-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Cactus Shadows will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
