Basketball Recap: Ashley Takes a Loss

Ashley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Montabella Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-43 back in December of 2024.

Ashley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Drummond, who posted 19 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 41.3% of Ashley's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Karissa Brady was another key player, going 7 for 13 en route to 14 points and six boards.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Montabella, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashley will face off against Merrill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montabella, they will head out to take on White Cloud at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
