Softball Recap: Pioneer Wins Going Away Against Oak Grove

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Pioneer and Oak Grove, and Pioneer kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Eagles on Wednesday. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 14-13 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Gina Scripoch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Cara Goodrich was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emmah Ramirez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Pioneer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Grove only posted an OBP of .154.

Pioneer's record is now 3-8. As for Oak Grove, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer will take on Christopher at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oak Grove, they will welcome Prospect at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
