Softball Recap: Forest Hills Takes a Loss

Forest Hills had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it 13. They came up short against the Central Academy Cougars, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in March.

As for Central Academy, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-8. Considering they have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Central Academy's part, Addison Crawford made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Crawford has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kieryn Peters and Emma Hunt did most of the damage at the plate: Peters went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Hunt went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Hunt a new career-high. Melanie Jones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Forest Hills has already played their next match, a 12-5 loss against Anson on the 10th. As for Central Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-1 victory against Monroe on the 10th.
