Baseball Game Preview: Milton Red Hawks vs. Monona Grove Silver Eagles

For the second straight game, Milton will face off against Monona Grove. The Red Hawks will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Silver Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Milton has won five straight at home, while Monona Grove won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.

Milton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wisconsin's top teams: Monona Grove, who was ranked third at the time (Milton was ranked 20th). The Red Hawks had just enough and edged out the Silver Eagles 5-4 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Red Hawks have beaten the Silver Eagles on their field since April 28, 2022.

Milton got a great performance from Trey Jones as he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Easton Agnew, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Thompson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Milton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Monona Grove, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-2.
