Baseball Game Preview: Washington Generals vs. Riverside Bulldogs

Washington has gone a perfect 3-0 against Riverside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Generals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Washington beat Manchester Academy 7-3.

Tyler Jennings was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Doty Scott, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Tri Avis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Riverside unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Humphreys County by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since March 7th.

Washington is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Everything went Washington's way against Riverside when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Washington made off with a 17-4 victory. Will the Generals repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
