Sterlington takes loss despite strong efforts from Khristian Johnson and Cooper Nelson

Recap: Sterlington Panthers vs. Richwood Rams

The Sterlington Panthers suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Richwood, falling 80-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Sterlington has suffered against Richwood since February 7, 2020.

Cooper Nelson and Khristian Johnson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Nelson scored 18 points along with three steals, while Johnson scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Devin Cooper was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.

Sterlington struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Sterlington's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Richwood, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bastrop the next time they take the court. Richwood will host Bastrop at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Sterlington will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
