Basketball Recap: Hidalgo Early College Takes a Loss

Hidalgo Early College was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 79-45 defeat at the hands of the Harlingen Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 900th, while the Cardinals are ranked 217th).

Harlingen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ricki Henderson, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Ashford, who scored 16 points.

Hidalgo Early College's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Harlingen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Hidalgo Early College will face off against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Harlingen, they have already played their next contest, a 58-43 victory against Rio Hondo on the 11th.
