With a playoff win on the line, Smith Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-27 margin over the Virginia City Muckers. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Smith Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Slater led the charge by putting up 20 points. Slater continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Presley York, who posted eight points.

The win made it two in a row for Smith Valley and bumps their season record up to 16-7. As for Virginia City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season.

Looking ahead, Smith Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pyramid Lake at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Pyramid Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 contests. Virginia City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
