Baseball Recap: Denver South Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Denver South came out on top against Rangeview on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Ravens' pitcher stepped up to hand the Raiders a 17-0 shutout. Considering the Ravens have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dylan Coppock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Coppock was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnny Komarowsky, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ricardo Martinez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Denver South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rangeview only posted an OBP of .417.

Denver South is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Rangeview, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12.
