Basketball Recap: Carolina Day Wildcats vs. Varsity Opponent
The Carolina Day Wildcats had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Varsity Opponent 46-27 on Monday. Carolina Day pushed the score to 40-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Lily Everette, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Carolina Day's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Williams, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Carolina Day's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8. As for Varsity Opponent, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 120-424.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carolina Day will take on the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Varsity Opponent, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Collegiate Charter School of Lowell's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so the 's offense will have their work cut out for them.
