New Covenant barely beat Lynchburg HomeSchool the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gryphons were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Patriots on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Gryphons sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
While New Covenant won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-15, 28-26.
Naomi Rigg paced New Covenant's offense, picking up 11 kills. Rigg got some help from Ada Dudley and her 31 assists. Kylie Garnett controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
New Covenant's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Lynchburg HomeSchool, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Covenant will challenge Temple Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lynchburg HomeSchool, they will head out to square off against Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
