Basketball Recap: Battle Mountain Skates Past Oasis Academy with Ease

Battle Mountain entered their tilt with Oasis Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Oasis Academy Bighorns 75-38. That's more bragging rights for the Longhorns, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Battle Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Geovanni Ruvalcaba, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. Brodie Smith was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 18 points and four steals.

Battle Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oasis Academy only posted three assists.

When it comes to explaining why Oasis Academy lost, don't look at Fenn Mackedon. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 20 on his way to 26 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Barrenchea, who posted eight points and six boards.

Battle Mountain's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Oasis Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
