Softball Game Preview: Wills Point Tigers vs. Dallas Christian Chargers

The Wills Point Tigers will square off against the Dallas Christian Chargers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wills Point took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Ford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers skirted past the Panthers 5-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Dallas Christian entered their tilt with McKinney Christian Academy on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Chloe Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clara Hamil, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Zailey Freeman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Dallas Christian pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wills Point, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12-1.
