Softball Game Preview: St. Mary's Dominican vs. E.D. White Cardinals

St. Mary's Dominican will head out on the road to challenge the E.D. White Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Mary's Dominican has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while E.D. White will arrive with seven straight wins.

St. Mary's Dominican fell victim to Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0. The match marked the first time this season in which St. Mary's Dominican was not able to get on the board.

Aubrey Daigrepont spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Mary's Dominican saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Catherine Andrade, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, E.D. White earned a 6-3 victory over Teurlings Catholic on Saturday.

E.D. White also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Emma Mahler gave up three earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Gabrielle Barrios and Haleigh Perilloux did most of the damage at the plate: Barrios scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Perilloux went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Barrios a new career-high. Carlie Hartman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

E.D. White's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's Dominican, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
