Baseball Game Preview: Barren County Trojans vs. Lexington Christian Eagles

The Barren County Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Lexington Christian Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Barren County took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Hilliard Darby. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since March 21st.

Sutton Hyde made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Cameron Crawford tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Hyde wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Axel Dysholm, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Gavin Coffey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

While Lexington Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Tates Creek 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Barren County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Lexington Christian, their record now sits at 8-4.
