Softball Recap: Alexandria's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Alexandria had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Iota Bulldogs as they made off with a 12-6 win. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly six runs.

Mary Claire Brinkman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Sarah Grace Buckels, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Alexandria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iota only posted a batting average of .259.

Alexandria pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Iota, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexandria will head out to take on Kinder at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Iota, they are taking a road trip to face off against Grand Lake at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
