Volleyball Recap: Marana's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Marana was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Tucson High Magnet School on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell 3-1 to the Rincon/University Rangers on Thursday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Marana couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Rincon/University a tough time in the third set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 30-32, 25-23.

Leading Rincon/University to victory were Nic Sanchez and Trevor Peyton. Sanchez had 26 digs, while Peyton had six digs. Those 26 digs gave Sanchez a new career-high. Brennan McGoldrick-Doty also deserves some recognition as he had his first dig of the season.

Marana's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-11. As for Rincon/University, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-7.

Marana didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Sunnyside on the 18th. As for Rincon/University, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Tucson High Magnet School on the 18th.
