Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Warriors vs. DeWitt Panthers

The Waverly Warriors will head out to square off against the DeWitt Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Waverly's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.

Last Tuesday, Waverly got the win against St. Johns by a conclusive 91-71. The Warriors have beaten the Redwings the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Redwings has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, DeWitt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 47-34 to Everett.

Waverly pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.1 points over those games. As for DeWitt, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Everything came up roses for Waverly against DeWitt when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 74-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waverly since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
