Baseball Game Preview: Ardmore Tigers vs. Elkmont Red Devils

Ardmore is 8-2 against Elkmont since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Ardmore Tigers will welcome the Elkmont Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row dating back to last season, Ardmore turned things around against West Limestone on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Dylan Rodgers looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

On the hitting side, Skyler Jean was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Luke Ezell was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Elkmont's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to West Limestone on Thursday. Elkmont had just enough and edged out East Limestone 3-2.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Pendergrass, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Braidyn Amick also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Ardmore's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Elkmont, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1.

Ardmore was able to grind out a solid victory over Elkmont in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 11-7. Does Ardmore have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elkmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
