Basketball Recap: Calistin Schommer Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kewaskum

North Fond du Lac proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 32) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-33 victory over the Kewaskum Indians. Those 36 points were actually the fewest the Orioles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

North Fond du Lac's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Calistin Schommer, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. Schommer is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Allison Now was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

North Fond du Lac smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

North Fond du Lac's record is now 5-1. As for Kewaskum, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Fond du Lac will welcome Laconia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Orioles will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Kewaskum, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Bend West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
