Basketball Recap: STEMCivics Takes a Loss

STEMCivics suffered their closest defeat since December 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Atlantic Christian Cougars by a score of 62-60. While losing is never fun, STEMCivics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Atlantic Christian is ranked 201st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atlantic Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Costello, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 21 points and four steals. Costello continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Stokes, who shot 43% from the field en route to 20 points.

STEMCivics has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. Atlantic Christian has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season.

STEMCivics does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Atlantic Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-45 victory against Gloucester County Christian on the 20th.
