Softball Recap: El Cerrito Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

El Cerrito had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They won by a run and slipped past the Las Lomas Knights 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Gauchos, who until this contest were averaging 2.39 runs allowed.

Madelyn Harrison was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sanai Vanhook, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: El Cerrito kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

El Cerrito is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Las Lomas, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Looking ahead, El Cerrito will take on Berean Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gauchos will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last ten contests. Las Lomas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
