Football Recap: Bagdad Sultans vs. Hayden Lobos

Bagdad and Hayden squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Bagdad had to settle for second. They came up short against the Hayden Lobos, falling 56-34. The Sultans gained 96 more yards on the day, but it was the Lobos that made the best use of them.

Several Sultans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Landers, who picked up 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Landers showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 64 yards. Another receiver making a difference was Destry Owings, who picked up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Bagdad wouldn't let Hayden keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. Bagdad can thank Carson Wood and Nick Martinez for forcing all of them.

Tyler Garner was his usual excellent self, rushing for 171 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries for Hayden. Those 171 rushing yards gave Garner a new career-high.

The defeat snapped Bagdad's winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 10-2 record. As for Hayden, the victory for them keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

As of now, neither Bagdad nor Hayden have any future games scheduled.
