Softball Game Preview: Memorial Red Devils vs. Jackson-Milton Bluejays

The Memorial Red Devils will square off against the Jackson-Milton Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Memorial knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Jackson-Milton likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Memorial needed a bit of extra time to put away East Palestine. They skirted past the Bulldogs 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Devils have posted since April 9, 2024.

Ramani Adams spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abby Broz was incredible, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mileena Williams, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Milton has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell just short of Southeast by a score of 11-9. That makes it the first time this season the Bluejays have let down their home crowd.

Jackson-Milton's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Memorial, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Memorial might still be hurting after the 22-1 defeat they got from Jackson-Milton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
