            Softball Recap: Hazleton Area Cougars vs. Pittston Patriots        
        
		
        
        
            Hazleton Area dropped their record down to 5-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost  19-5 to the Pittston Patriots. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing  10-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
  Kayla Lagowy was cooking despite her team's loss,   going a perfect 3-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.  Isabella Boyle also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
As for Pittston,  the  win  got them back to even at 4-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
 On Pittston's side,  Marina Antal was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three  runs and two  RBI. Those  four  hits gave  Antal a new career-high.  Lili Hintze was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with three  runs and two  RBI.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hazleton Area will take on Northampton at 4:15  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Pittston, they will challenge Wyoming Valley West at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5  runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
